The construction of Te Whiti Wharf was approved in November 2018, but Napier Port needed help to fund the $173 million project.
It turned to its 100 percent owner, the Hawke’s Bay Regional Investment Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.
As Napier Port’s Senior Communications Advisor, Erin Harford-Wright provided expert advice to the Capital Structure Review (CSR) panel on media and community engagement strategies. She advised on the release of CSR reports and procurement of community engagement services, and worked with Council on the community consultation campaign Our Port – Have Your Say.
Council received a mandate from Hawke’s Bay ratepayers, with 57 percent of submissions supporting its preferred option to fund Napier Port’s growth by selling a 45 percent share of the company on the NZX.
